Spiral want to say a big thankyou to the Carlisle Business Support Network for generously donating £297 to us.

This money will be use to pay for body image training for staff who are working to support young people through a range of issues and challenges concerning their perceptions about their appearance.

A recent report by the children's society highlights:

More young people are worried about how they look now than in previous years.

The report reveals that more girls are unhappy with their appearance than boys. Almost 1 in 5 (18%) – the equivalent of an estimated 411,000 - 10-15-year-old girls are unhappy with their looks compared to 10% of boys.

There's always someone to compare yourself to! Social Media presents a certain 'standard' of what to look like, even though it is unrealistic.

Many young people we meet at Spiral are concerned about their appearance and many express feelings of not liking themselves.  By doing this training we hope to be able to better support young people to live well and to live peacefully with their bodies.
